In a contest with the subject “The Poetics of Chios through the Eyes of the Visual Artists” and during the inauguration of the homonymous exhibition that took place on 12 December 2014, the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, which had organized it, awarded three of the participants prizes of 1,000 euros each. The work for which Ada Petranaki received her prize was “The Root of Jesse (and the Alexandrian)” (art installation).

This experiential work of art accentuates the famous Chian seamanship through authentic archival material owned by the artist herself, who comes from a Chian family with a long tradition in the naval profession, as her father, grandfather and great-grandfather were sea captains.
